Being an Artist in Residence at Fuse33 Makerspace has been an incredibly meaningful and grounding experience for me, one that I feel deeply thankful for. This residency gave me not only access to space and tools, but also something far more valuable: time, support, and a sense of belonging within a creative community.

As an artist, having dedicated space to focus on my practice is not something I always get to experience. Fuse33 offered an environment where experimentation is encouraged and curiosity is welcomed. From the moment I stepped into the makerspace, I felt supported- not just as an artist, but as a person navigating an evolving creative path.

A Space to Explore and Grow

One of the things I appreciated most about this residency was the freedom to explore. Fuse33 provides access to a wide range of tools, machines, and workshops, which pushed me to think differently about my work and process. Being surrounded by resources I wouldn’t normally have access to allowed me to step outside my comfort zone and approach my practice with fresh eyes.

I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to learn, try, fail, and try again, without pressure. That kind of space is rare, and it made a real difference in how I showed up to my work during this time.

The Power of Community

Equally important was the community. Fuse33 is filled with artists and makers from diverse disciplines and backgrounds, and being part of that environment was both inspiring and motivating. Sharing space with other creatives naturally led to conversations about process, challenges, ideas, and identity: reminders that none of us are creating in isolation.

I’m truly thankful for the openness, kindness, and generosity I experienced from both staff and fellow residents. Those connections made the residency feel alive and deeply human.

Reflection, Gratitude, and Moving Forward

This residency gave me the chance to slow down and reflect, not just on what I was making, but on why I make art in the first place. Having the time and space to reconnect with my intentions as an artist was invaluable.

I’m deeply grateful to Fuse33 Makerspace for trusting me with this opportunity and for creating a program that genuinely supports artists at different stages of their journey. This experience will stay with me far beyond the residency itself — in my work, my confidence, and the way I approach my practice moving forward.
