🌊 Beginner Oil Painting Workshop: Seascapes by the Black Sea

Discover the magic of oil painting in a relaxed, beginner-friendly setting! Inspired by workshops I once led in Odessa, this class introduces you to the timeless beauty of seascapes while teaching the essentials of oil technique.

🎨 What you’ll learn:

• How to create harmony with a limited palette (Titanium White, Cerulean Blue, Alizarin Crimson, Yellow Ochre).
• Mixing colors to achieve balanced values.
• Blocking in “sky and sea” with bold strokes.
• Adding texture and detail through shaping and scratching techniques.

🖌️ Workshop format:

• Hour 1: Color mixing & palette building.
• Hour 2: Painting seascapes on small, pre-prepped canvases (extra gessoed for smoother progress).

✨ Why seascapes?
Seascapes are forgiving and fun—no previous drawing experience required! Whether you’re brand new to oils or just curious, you’ll enjoy experimenting freely.

⚠️ Note: Oils take time to dry. You’ll take home your piece the same day, but handle carefully!

By the end of the session, you’ll have your own expressive seascape and the confidence to keep exploring oil painting. Some past students even fell in love with oils and continued their journey beyond the class!
