Self-Identification and Exploration Through Art
Self-identification and exploration through art is a deeply personal journey—a process of discovering who we are and what resonates with us. It’s not a destination but an evolving path, as we continue to grow and change throughout our lives.
Over time, patterns begin to emerge in our creative work. These might include a preferred color palette, recurring subject matter, or a distinctive style. These elements become a reflection of our personal tastes, values, and inner world. Through this recognition, we not only build confidence but also learn to embrace our individuality.
Experimenting with different mediums, techniques, and themes allows me the freedom to express my emotions and thoughts without boundaries. Sometimes, the results might be ugly, raw, or nonsensical. Other times, they might feel sad or even childlike. And that’s okay. Art doesn’t have to conform to anyone’s standards—it’s a reflection of where we are at any given moment.
Regardless of current skill level or experience, there’s always a new height to reach. Growth as an artist requires patience and practice. Building confidence takes time, and so does earning recognition, whether it comes from within or from others.
Being an artist often means embracing uncertainty. There is no clear pathway to success, and perhaps that’s what makes this journey so unique. What even defines success for an artist? Is it the personal satisfaction of creating something meaningful? Is it fame? Financial gain? When, if ever, can I consider myself "good enough"?
Until I find answers to those questions, I’ll continue to create, to express my thoughts, and to embrace the unknown. For me, art is less about reaching an endpoint and more about the process of exploring and sharing what’s inside my mind.
